THE STORY

Humans live on earth like pigs in a borehouse. Valuable resources are depleted and transformed into nuclear waste, CO2 emissions, chemical pollution and mere trash. The ending of our planet will come to pass. Emerged from human filth, resistant to all pollution
TOXI, CO&O, NUKE & T-RASH
Are our only salvation. Playroll; mutant superheroes, demigods of the new disorder, rule the faith of life on earth. Will they turn the tide? Will they save mankind by their own sacrifice?

CO&O
Two egged twin CO&O were spat out as useless byproducts of our motorvehicle industry. These orphan kids have opposite abilities: to suffocate opponents with carbondioxide and to suck up and filter polluted air. With their fearless attitude they love to be on the road and travel. Constantly seeking adventure, they stumble upon evil plans and dirty plots. Led by their childlike sense of right and wrong they never back down until justice is done. No matter how big the enemy.

Primary objective: Clean air for all.
Weapon of choice: Release of suffocating carbondioxide.
Character: Energetic, enthousiastic and strong sense of justice.
Flaws: Reckless, mindless & naive.
Fear: That all beauty be destroyed.

T-RASH
Descending from human bums living off garbage dumps, his family have since long developed amazing skills in turning man’s waste to use. T-Rash has always lived in a world of trash. Now, in post human form, he is a true prodigy of his people. There is no problem he cannot solve with some thrown away garbage and waste products of mankind’s pollutive lifestyle. When all dispair he will find a solution…

Primary objective: To make earth as clean as Switzerland
Weapon of choice: Extreme intelligence and creative imagination.
Character: Rational, possitive minded, seeking opportunities.
Flaws: Perfectionist. Focusses on technology, never on people.
Fear: Chaos and destruction.

NUKE
Being a radiation-fed mutated life form, Nuky has the ability to alter surroundings with rays of nuclear power blasts. He grew up in radioactive swamps and atomic wastelands surviving the very worst of mankind’s disrespect for nature. Now he is fed up with humans and their destructive behaviour. He takes matters in his own hands and intents to rid this planet of it’s filth and foul-doers. He will become the Lord of Law in this new world disorder.

Rank: Chief commando.
Primary objective: Clean up earth through control over humans.
Weapon of choice: Matter-altering nuclear power rays.
Character: Impulsive, agressive. Shoot first, talk later.
Flaws: Insensitive, egocentric macho man.
Fear: Being controlled by humans.

TOXI
You will not find a better friend than Toxi. With his warm and friendly nature he wishes for all beings to live together in harmony. His love for his friends is only exceeded by his extreme clumsiness. Being the result of chemical tests in the pharmaceutical industry, Toxi is poisonous to the bone. Uncontrolled, his touch can kill instantly. Although he only means to do good, his stupidity and uncontrolled movements are destined to cause trouble.

Primary objective: To let the world live in harmony.
Weapon of choice: None. He’s just poisonous.
Character: Sweet, loving and generous.
Flaws: Extreme clumsiness.
Fear: Hatred and hostility.

During the Dutch Design Week, PlayRoll has its first live appearance in the Temporary Art Centre. Specially for an exhibition called ‘Alter Ego’ large wooden characters were made. The largest, Toxi, is about 35cm.
